One of the commandments Jesus asked those who believe in Him to carry out is baptism. Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist to give us an example. The early believers in the New Testament were baptized after they confessed their belief in Jesus as the Son of God who had died and rose from the grave for their sins.
We believe that every person, child or adult, should follow Jesus’ command to be baptized by immersion in water soon after they confess and are saved through grace in Jesus Christ. This ancient symbol tells everyone that we believe that Jesus died for our sins and was risen from the dead. It is an outward act of obedience to Jesus that shows everyone what has occurred in our hearts.
